Salt Skincare is a luxury, ocean-powered skincare brand designed for high-achieving women who seek more than just skincare - they crave a ritual that restores, replenishes, and reconnects them with nature. This personal project is inspired by the untamed power of the sea, Salt Skincare embodies strength, resilience, and the raw beauty of the ocean, delivering formulas as wild and potent as the waters they come from.
A key focus of this brand was to celebrate the wild, raw and uncompromising nature of the ocean, as opposed to the serene, calm approach usually favoured by ocean-inspired skincare brands. This involved creating a logo that clearly felt linked to the ocean with flowing lines but was also bold, confident and a marked difference to the industry trends of clean san-serif fonts. The ocean splash, which features heavily across the branding is also a reference to the power and wild beauty of the ocean.
As this is a premium brand, I wanted a minimal, clean design that was still high impact and would demand attention. Texture played a big part in creating that luxury brand experience for customers and so the packaging includes debossed effects, as well as the use of premium materials such as ceramic bottles.
The colour palette is bold and striking with only two main colours - a deep blue that feels luxurious but also references the darker wilder aspect of the ocean and a cool, off-white, reminiscent of the splash of the waves.
